Dr Jon Tennant is a short-term research fellow at the CRI in Paris and independent researcher with IGDORE, after completing his PhD at Imperial College London in 2017. He was then Communications Director of ScienceOpen for 2 years. He is the founder of the Open Science MOOC, and the digital publishing platform paleorXiv. He is also a Shuttleworth Flash grantee, and has won an award for this work on peer review. He was the lead author of the Foundations for Open Scholarship Strategy Development, and is co-author for the Open Science Training Handbook. He advises numerous of organisations within open scholarly communication. He is also a PLOS Paleo Community Editor, Executive Editor for the journal Geoscience Communication. He now spends most of his time writing about peer review and 'open science', including challenging the business practices of the commercial scholarly publishing industry.
